Holly hates Christmas. She’s an angry, twenty-something woman who is living an aimless, unhappy life when she is suddenly dragged into a magical Christmas story against her will. This is the last place she wants to be, so she decides to sabotage the story, and prove once and for all that Christmas has been hijacked by commercialism and cheap sentiment. In doing so, she doesn’t realize that she is actually sabotaging Christmas itself, and will find herself having to make a choice that will determine if she will spend the rest of her life being “naughty” or “nice”. This is Ugly Christmas Sweater, The Musical, the hilarious, heartfelt story of a lonely soul whose traumatic childhood Christmas memories have caused her to bitterly reject the holiday, until a wild, otherworldly experience forces her to reassess her life. It’s a tale of redemption, self-empowerment, compassion, and mad, magical Yuletide fashion – an ugly Christmas sweater comes to life! Most of the story takes place at the mythical North Pole, where Holly is forced to choose – does she join forces with the evil villain, or help to defeat her by rediscovering her lost love of Christmas? This is a Christmas show that’s new and familiar at the same time – edgy but still warm and fuzzy. It’s a fresh, campy fairy tale send-up combining the madness of a kid’s show with grown-up reality. The comedy is wild and the music is offbeat show pop. There are a lot of Christmas shows out there, but there is nothing like Ugly Christmas Sweater, The Musical! It’s a holiday yarn that will leave you in stitches!
